Six terms every trader should understand before placing their first position.
Contract for Difference — an agreement to exchange the difference in an asset's price between when a position is opened and when it is closed. You never own the underlying asset.
The difference between the buy (ask) and sell (bid) price of an instrument. This is the primary trading cost on most platforms, including Starwal.
Borrowing capital from the broker to control a larger position than your deposit allows. Leverage amplifies both gains and losses proportionally.
The deposit required to open and maintain a leveraged position. Expressed as a percentage of the total trade size.
An instruction to automatically close a trade if the price moves against you by a specified amount, limiting your maximum loss on any single position.
An order that automatically closes a trade when the price reaches a specified profit target, locking in gains without needing to monitor the position.
